The Ministry of Higher Education has announced that no private university in Cameroon is permitted to offer Doctorate (PhD) programs, and any degrees obtained from such unauthorized programs will not be recognized.

In a press release signed by Professor Jacques FAME NDONGO, the Minister of State for Higher Education, the government stated that private institutions running PhD programs are doing so without authorization. The ban also includes « offshore » doctoral programs operating on Cameroonian territory.

Students who enroll in these unauthorized programs do so at their own risk. Any diploma obtained will have no legal value in Cameroon.

The Ministry is available to help verify legitimate programs. Interested persons can contact the General Inspection of Academic Affairs or the Directorate of Higher Education Development for reliable information.
